Spine Rehabilitation Layfield and Associates Physical Therapy employs an active approach to the rehabilitation of spinal disorders. Our program consists of three areas: aerobic conditioning, stretching, and strengthening. Aerobic Conditioning is instructed to restore mobility, improve blood flow, improve strength, and enhance aerobic status. Stretching techniques are performed to restore length to tight tissues and reduce increased muscle tone that affects postural alignment and efficient function. A Progressive Strengthening program is established to strengthen appropriate muscle groups emphasizing the biomechanics needed for spine safety. The exercises are designed to include specific, repetitive, and quality movement that inhibits abnormal movement patterns and establishes patterns of coordination, strength and mobility. Strength and skill are achieved through practice of coordinated movement that is well organized and efficient. Manual therapy techniques are incorporated, when necessary, to optimize response to the above programs.
