Balance Dysfunction

Balance dysfunctions, resulting in falls or a fear of falling, can benefit from physical therapy. Specific balance and coordination activities are performed to improve flexibility, strength, postural aligment and balance. Patient education, including home safety, and home exercises are emphasized throughout treatment.

Osteoporosis

The goal of physical therapy in treating osteoporosis is to restore mobility, function, strength, confidence, and to enhance the safety of everyday life. Individual programs address specific exercises for improvement of posture, balance, and general strength. Patients with existing fractures benefit from instruction in how to perform basic activities of daily living, as well as manual techniques and/or modalities for pain relief.

Total Joint Replacement

Physical therapy following total joint replacement surgery emphasizes the restoration of strength, flexibility, and lifestyles activities. Following hip and knee joint replacement surgery, balance and gait exercises are included in treatment.
